Silent Tears

Sometimes I feel all alone
And I want to scream at the people
Who are Supposed to love me
Because they don’t notice.

Then I think
‘Doesn’t everybody feel this way?
Doesn’t everyone feel outrageously depressed?
And lonely
And afraid?’

I go throughout my day,
Forgetting the hurt I go to sleep with
Every night.
I go through my work
As if that’s what’s important to me.
I smile around the family
So no questions are asked.

Then, in the silence of my room,
I scream out for help
With silent tears.
